Research Areas research areas

research overview

  • Areas of current interest are: behavior genetics of drug use, abuse, and dependence in adolescents and adults, including the impact of marijuana legalization; contributions of genetics and effects of drug use on the development of brain and behavior in adolescence; genetic influences on behavior and mental health. Methods include the study of twins, adoptees, and nuclear families, and genome wide association studies (GWAS). Our research requires interdisciplinary collaboration across psychology, molecular biology, neuroimaging, and statistical genetics, paired with expertise in the phenotypes. We are a research site for the national Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) initiative.

  • Behavior genetics, twin studies, drug addiction, statistical genetics, cognitive abilities, behavioral development.
