Dr. Sharon Stammerjohn has been involved in polar research since 1991. Her research interests include polar oceanography and climate variability, ocean-atmosphere-ice interactions, and ocean-atmosphere links to marine ecosystem variability. She is particularly interested in the mechanisms and sensitivities driving seasonal sea ice changes and how these vary in time and space. Her projects are all interdisciplinary, as inspired from her long involvement with the Palmer LTER, with an overall objective to better understand the physical system from the perspective of the polar marine ecosystem.
