  • Dr. Stallings' research interests include quantitative genetics, substance abuse, and psychopathology. Currently, his primary research program involves studies of twins, families, and adoptive families, utilizing both biometrical modeling and gene mapping methods to understand genetic and environmental influences on the development of substance use disorders and comorbid psychopathology.

  • PSYC 2111 - Psychological Science I: Statistics
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2018 / Fall 2018 / Fall 2019 / Spring 2021 / Spring 2022 / Spring 2023 / Spring 2024
    Three hours of lecture and one two-hour lab per week. Introduces descriptive and inferential statistics and their roles in psychological research. Topics include correlation, regression, T-test, analysis of variance and selected nonparametric statistics.

    Critically reviews some aspect of psychological literature, scholarly analysis of a major psychological issue, and/or empirical research project. See the psychology honors director for further information.
  • PSYC 5122 - Quantitative Genetics
    Primary Instructor - Spring 2019
    Surveys principles of genetics of quantitative characteristics. Topics include gene frequencies, effects of mutation, migration, and selection. Also looks at correlations among relatives, heritability, inbreeding, crossbreeding, and selective breeding.

    Studies development of structural models appropriate to behavioral genetics and the estimation procedures necessary for their application.

    Individual research projects. May be repeated up to 7 total credit hours.
  • PSYC 7102 - Seminar: Behavioral Genetics
    Primary Instructor - Fall 2020 / Fall 2022
    Intensive study of selected topics in behavioral genetics. Emphasizes recent research. Attention to both human and animal studies. May be repeated up to 12 total credit hours. Instructor consent required.
