I specialize in Japanese linguistics and pedagogy, with particular expertise in conversation analysis on interaction among Japanese learners and learners’ community building. My scholarship has appeared in journals or proceedings such as Journal CAJLE (Canadian Association for Japanese Language Education). My current scholarship examines community building in beginning Japanese courses and at a Japanese conversation table to provide post-pandemic students with academic and emotional support for a long-term commitment for learning Japanese in and outside classroom.
