Ann Schmiesing is Professor of German and Scandinavian Studies. Her research interests include eighteenth and nineteenth-century German and Scandinavian drama, theatre history, book illustration, and fairy tales. She has written on authors such as G. E. Lessing, Daniel Chodowiecki, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, Theodor Gottlieb von Hippel, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Henrik Wergeland, and Johan Falkberget. Professor Schmiesing's books include Norway’s Christiania Theatre, 1827-1867: From Danish Showhouse to National Stage, and Disability, Deformity, and Disease in the Grimms' Fairy Tales.

FYXP 1500 - First Year Success Seminar

Designed to assist first-year students with their successful transition to the University of Colorado Boulder. Students will learn about campus resources, goal setting, study skills, and academic exploration. Participation in class discussions, self reflection, and engagement in course assignments are essential in this course. This course will provide a supportive environment for new students to engage with peers, staff, and faculty to support the first eight weeks of the transition to college.
