Laurel completed a dual-title PhD in Clinical Social Work and Infant Mental Health and is now a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Denver Neurodevelopment Research Program. Her primary research interest is the utilization and effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in improving mental health, and parent-infant outcomes in urban pregnant women and new parents. A secondary interest is understanding the effects of trauma on physiological and psychological stress responses and how this effects the health of both mothers and fathers and their infants during antenatal and postnatal periods.
