Research

research overview

  • Dr. Hayghe's research centers around the study and performance of classical solo piano music and chamber music for the piano. She has done extensive research on the history of women pianists and the societal trends surrounding this topic and her teaching of the piano literature is informed by her studies of the literature composed from the mid-18th century to the present. Dr. Hayghe is an active performer, her programs exhibit a varied solo repertoire, often with a focus on programming works by historically marginalized composers alongside more standard compositions. She is also an experienced and accomplished chamber musician, with an extensive repertoire from the 18th through the 21st century. Dr. Hayghe's multimedia performance presentation, 'The Art of Music and the Music of Art', has led to new explorations of and research about the connections between music and the visual arts as well as continued work with multimedia presentations.
