My academic research focuses on historically excluded populations in higher education which includes includes, but not limited to, Latina/o and Chicana/o themes in the educational pipeline, women of color leaders in academia, and other BIPOC individuals who are marginalized in the overall k-12 and higher educational systems. I study how levels of oppression, including power and privilege, and social justice themes, including intersectionality, appear within these populations which can influence or hinder their educational advancement.

Further, the seminar directs students to justify decision-making processes, demonstrating their ability to synthesize prior knowledge to effect desirable, ethical outcomes.
