  • Daniel Silver's expertise is in the area of classical music performance and teaching. Silver is the clarinet professor in the College of Music and has regular activities as master teacher, performer in solo, chamber music, orchestral and other settings. His repertoire extends from the earliest classical styles to the present day. As a pedagogue, he has special interest in the cognitive aspects of skill acquisition, especially with regard to motor-skill and artistry. He has delivered clinics and presentations of the subject of efficient practice for athletes and musicians in settings ranging from music classes, master classes, professional golf association members and collegiate sports teams. Since 2020, Silver has researched and promoted a greater number of works in his concerts and for use in his teaching by composers whose works are less represented in the concerts and recitals in which he and his students perform. Recent examples include solo works performed at the International Clarinet Festival in Ft. Worth Texas in July 2025.
