Research

My areas of research include teaching and learning in the STEM fields. Including data visualization, open access publishing, open data, as well as teaching undergraduates how to find, read and use science scholarly literature. I also incorporate historic science materials, book arts, photobooks, and ephemera in science undergraduate educational experiences as well as K-12 toward improving overall engagement with STEM. Specific focus on writing in the sciences and communicating science. I also work toward digitizing science materials in the Archives in order to make them available to researchers across the world and the general public. Develop partnerships with the CU Museum of Natural History to digitize archival papers on fossils to add to their Florissant Fossil Beds database.

FYXP 1500 - First Year Success Seminar
Primary Instructor - Fall 2020
Designed to assist first-year students with their successful transition to the University of Colorado Boulder. Students will learn about campus resources, goal setting, study skills, and academic exploration. Participation in class discussions, self reflection, and engagement in course assignments are essential in this course. This course will provide a supportive environment for new students to engage with peers, staff, and faculty to support the first eight weeks of the transition to college.
