research overview

  • Dr. Beatty's recent research addresses the mechanisms and patterns of exotic species invasions into native plant communities. She is involved in studies in eastern deciduous forest, and montane ecosystems of the Rocky Mountains, Cascades, and Appalachians. She also is looking at the impacts of land use and management on biodiversity and conservation of native species. Dr. Beatty has worked for decades in disturbance ecology and plant-soil relationships, addressing long term ecological change and developing models for assessing future changes in plant communities with changing climate.
