PSYC 4655 - Community-based Research and Design Course uri icon

Overview

description

  • There is a growing recognition that in designing products, interventions, and systems, it is critical to involve the people who will be using those products, experiencing those interventions, and participating in those systems. The field of developmental psychology studies how people grow, change, and adapt over time. The fields of participatory and design research combine methods from different disciplines to guide design and implementation. In this course, you will collaborate with local community partners to design, prototype, implement, and refine a learning experience for young children. By the end of this class you will be able to combine theory- and evidence-based principles from cognitive development with methods and tools from community-based and participatory research to create and evaluate a design product. Recommended prerequisite: PSYC 3684.
