Enables students to design engineered structures to realize materials with desired electromagnetic properties that are difficult or impossible to achieve using conventional materials. Exact and approximate techniques are explored to develop an intuitive understanding of the electromagnetic response of these structures. Recommended prerequisite: ECEN 3410 (EM Waves and Transmissions) or equivalent course in fundamental electromagnetic theory.
