Professor John Crimaldi was recently elected to the 2019 class fellows of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO)!
The fellows program honors those who work to support ASLO’s mission to advance the science of limnology -- the study of inland aquatic ecosystems -- and oceanography.
Crimaldi’s research focuses on interactions between fluid physics and ecological or biological processes. He and his research group operate the Ecological Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Colorado Boulder. The group uses a combination of experimental and numerical approaches to study fluid stirring, mixing and reactions, and to investigate how organisms have evolved and adapted to opportunities and constraints associated with their physical environment.
For 80 years, ASLO has been the leading international professional organization for researchers and educators in aquatic science. Its goal is to foster a diverse, international scientific community that creates, integrates and communicates knowledge across the full spectrum of aquatic sciences; advances public awareness and education about aquatic resources and research; and promotes scientific stewardship of aquatic resources for the public interest. It has almost 4,000 members worldwide.
The ASLO fellows will be honored at ASLO meetings in February and June.
