Overview

description

  • In the six years since he joined CU Boulder, Professor Sutter has made significant contributions to the History department, the campus and the Boulder community. As graduate director, he has taken the department’s graduate program to new heights, and he is known across campus as an outstanding mentor to graduate students. Sutter has served on numerous campus committees and was a key strategist in envisioning a potential School of the Environment and Sustainability. In pursuing his research specialty—environmental history—he has been a leader in bringing students and faculty together in conferences on the environmental history of the western United States, often in remote locations for field work. He is active in program planning for the broad-based American Historical Association. Locally, he helps uphold the quality of the Boulder Public Library by chairing its Library Commission.
